Custom Designed Wooden Chests & Collection Boxes

 

Most of our boxes are made to order.  Changes in box designs or dimensions are never a problem. Our custom-designed items are the result of discussions with our customers about their needs.  OLD COLONY WOODWORKS identifies them using a location, name, event, or some other significant feature, which is often of the client’s choosing.  You can rely on us for free design work.

St. Thomas Collection Box

This box was designed for collections for a church in Virginia. It can be adapted for a cremation box, prayer box, as a keepsake for gift giving, a box just for wishes, or a precious memory. It features a piano hinge, exposed end grain design., folding brass carry handles, and a brass latch. Made from Eastern White Pine with a Minwax Early American finish, or select one of our other woods and finishes.

Early American Tea Chest

Tea Chests were a sign of wealth and social prominence in eighteenth century England.  They are still used today by upscale hotels and restaurants.  We designed this tea chest for Virginia Catering Company in Manassas, Virginia.  It is perfect for holiday entertaining. The 95-degree quadrant hinges hold the lid open for serving and then folds inside the box when you close it. This wooden chest features decorative splined corners, hidden hinges, center dividers, and brass feet. The version pictured is made of white pine with an Early American finish, brass feet, and a brass clasp.  We can make it in any exotic wood and in any size you request.  Our personal favorite for this product is cherry.

St. Augustine Chest

This 18″ X 18″ X 6″ chest is made using solid cherry wood and features 3 hand carved initials on the lid, black velvet lining, decorative African Blackwood, splined corners and piano hinge.

This large hand crafted chest approximately 24″ x 30″ x 12″ was hand crafted and custom designed for a nursing facility.  Natural pine with gloss sealer. The compartmentalized top has a full sliding drawer below.
